A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Stucco or EIFS Installed on Flat Surfaces

Some of the worst sheathing/framing damage can come from Stucco or EIFS being improperly installed on flat surfaces.  As mentioned in a my previous entry, Stucco & EIFS are not waterproof cladding systems.  Every manufacture specifically says to NOT install both on flat surfaces.

Here are some examples of what can happen when those guidelines are not followed:
